A Booster Shot from HRBOOST® (June 2019): Summer Vibes

By now, you have the summer vibes and your talent is likely seeking to hear about summer fun events, casual dress, summer hours and more! While we can certainly provide you ideas on those points, we are thinking it’s mid-year and time to talk Performance Achievement.  Watch our June webinar replay on this topic here.

Many of you are seeking to hire new talent and may have missed our recent webinar on how to HIRE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, so I have included a replay link. Not all behaviors can be learned and with many having to hire less experienced talent and find time to expeditiously develop talent, it is important to know the 6 behaviors that cannot be learned. Rather, the 6 behaviors that are innate and hard wired in each of us drive job performance, job satisfaction, and behaviors in the workplace. Watch the replay.

As always, we have fresh content to share and our very own Booster, Katie Cummins, is sharing how to retain talent. I think mid-year is a great time to refresh on the 7 Steps to Creating a Culture by Design. Organizational leadership should not be a one time, New Year event. It should be discussed day in, day out, and year round. Quarterly leader success exchanges are encouraged to revisit culture initiatives and bring about transparency and a framework for continuous process improvement. Whatever step you find yourself on, it's good to keep communication open in your workforce about what step you are on and what you are doing to bring about joy and purpose to all through their work.

As we reflect on Father’s Day 2019, it may be a good time to remind your workforce what you do to support paternity leave, father’s flexibility to coach and be with their kids, or perhaps even promote some policy or event you have to support the family. If you haven’t changed the language in your leave policies, consider this from a recent article on SHRM, “Categorizing one parent as primary and one as secondary is just not the way people think in 2019." And boy, did JP Morgan learn that to the tune of a $5 Million dollar settlement.

Graciously,

Nicole

Do You Dread Performance Management? Then Manage Achievement!

Written by: Nicole Martin, HRBOOST® CEO

Despite the long tradition of performance management in business, many are doing away with formal performance reviews. Fewer employers conducted formal performance reviews in recent years and newer startups are even moving to flatter organizational designs and team-based performance goals. This is a trend that is new and is continuing to grow among many employers of choice today.
